Default Rpms too high on highway (b16 swapped ej6)

So today I traded my Audi s4 for a b16 swapped ej6(made a thread a couple days ago asking about it), and on my way home with it i noticed the rpms are rlly high. like almost 4k @ 120kmh (75 mph i think) in 5th

is this normal? maybe im just used to my audi?

Welcome to the world of a b16 transmission.

It's got short gears, and the equals high rpm on the highway..

Like everyone else said, it's totally normal. Most 4cyl DOHC VTEC Honda transmissions are geared this way. To answer your next question, no, the engine doesn't care about the revs. You can go cross country at 80-90mph and it still wouldn't really care about the revs.

what do cars with B16 transmissions get for mileage compared to cars with GSR or LS transmissions? a lot worse? or not a big difference?

They can still get good MPG. I think there is a guy on here pulling 42mpg on the highway with his b16 swapped HX

A b16 compared to a LS I could imagine a pretty good difference. For the GSR, I doubt it would be anything to rave about.

According to the EPA ratings, there really is no difference at all. I'm sure that in real life between the B16 and the LS, there's a difference of maybe 2-3mpg on the highway.

The GSR trans MPG difference would be negligible.

Yes, it's normal.
I felt the same way when I started driving my newly swapped Hatch, but then got pretty used to it. You can buy the 5th gear from an LS transmission. I bought it brand new from the dealer (along with bearings and some seals) but wound up not installing it. PM me if you're interested. It should drop your 5th gear cruising rpm by 400-600rpm.

Why on earth would you want the GSR trans? Especially if you have a B16? I feel like the GSR trans is geared way too high even for the B18C1 which is a lot more torquey than the B16.

Your complaint doesn't seem abnormal. My 90 Civic D16A 5spd is roughly 4K RPM's @ 80 MPH in 5th. I know, different engine, different trans. I've been looking at this swap for several months now. RPM's seem normal.

Want to talk about highway revs, ask me how I feel about my 4.9 final for a daily lol. You pretty much have to yell to talk to a passenger but then again the R is all around raw with no sound dampening. Just the nature of the beast lol.

I think people just need to deal with it

If reving it that high on the high way was bad, do you think Honda would have made the trans like that? Turn the stereo up, and look at the road. The engine doesn't give a **** that your at 4700.

You think that's bad... on my rally car I'm running a 1.14 5th gear with a 4.4 final. 60mph is 4500rpm. I don't even bother going any faster, because 70mph is 5100rpm, 80mph is 5900rpm. But I'm just doing rural road (55mph speed limit) transits anyway. I avoid highways as much as I can if I'm driving to a track day.

It's going to suuuuuck once I eventually go so a higher reving motor and switch to a 4.9 final.

There is no issue running a B16 at 4-5k for hours on end, they were designed to do it, and still get decent mileage. It is a unique design for Honda's and works, don't compare it to an Audi
