Default Tools for swap

im getting a cherry picker from my friend, and have the usual sockets and wrenches. but i was wondering what tools i should pick up or rent at autozone that will make the ls swap into my 92vx easier and faster. i.e. big sockets, and anything that i need or will help. thanks a lot.

32mm socket for the axle nuts, along with a big breaker bar, just in case. I assume you already have a torque wrench as well. In the event something just doesn't quite fit or you can't get a nut loose, make sure you have a BFH . Oh and of course, don't forget the most important tool, a Helms manual.

ball joint separator is a must.. the ones that look like a fucked up c-clamp are the ones to get, that way you wont rip your balljoint boot.

make sure you have a 8mm flat ended punch to hammer out the shift linkage pin. that can be the biggest PITA of all, no joke.

bring a LOT of patience too!

I needed a deep socket 17mm and a 14mm. Also the 32mm or 1 1/4. You definatly need a breaker bar. Rent the ball joint tool at autozone. Anything power if you can get it, especially impact wrench. The axle nut, shift linkage and ball joint were the biotch bolts for me. Everything else went smooth except the wiring witch is another story.

yes yes, these two little things that owen_the_soyboy mentioned could seriously slowed down your progress the most with the correct tools. If you have a hard time remembering things, I would suggest some labels so you know what hose goes where as well. Also might need a crow bar of some sort to pry the axle out. IMO, thats the easiest way to get them out.

the 8mm hammer punch is a MUST
but you dont need a ball joint seperater.
all you need to do is remove the 3 bolts for the LCA and secure it so somthing while its still connected at the ball joint.

alright, well i couldnt find a 8mm punch. i got a 6.5mm one. will that work? its just a standard flat head punch from sears, its about 5 inches long. i also got the ball joint press, it looks like a c clamp right? got it from autozone along with the 32mm socket, anything else? will the punch work?
