Idle at 3-4000rpm, WTF and no codes... Please Help..
(B16a1 in a 1990 CRX Si)
Hey guys, my idle is at around 3-4000 rpm and does not go down at all, even when it's warmed up. I changed 3 IAC's, tried 3 ecu's, ran new wires for the IAC, from the ECU and a power supply, checked all vacumm lines and I still have the same problem... Can someone please give me some ideas... I have no idea where I'm gettin this high idle from..
Thanx,
Pete

have you checked your throttle cable? you may be having a leak somewhere too, tb or intake manifold, try spraying some wd40 around that area ... engine should rev up when you do

Another thing is that when I unplug the IAC my idle goes down to 1000rpm and then jumps to 2000rpm and then back and forth, and then when I plug it back in it shoots back up to 3-4000rpm... anyone with any ideas???
Do you have you Intake temp sensor and Idle air control sensors backwards ??? They are the exact same plug swithc them around and see what happens ....I did that after a swap once
you never answered the suggestion about a too tight throttle cable. Unplugging the eacv does drop the rpms but should only be a couple hundred (if it idles right anyway).
While its idling high, check the plunger thing thats on top of (should be on that model i think) the TB that connects a rod to the throttle plate spring getup. since my b20 swap, somtimes it fails to retract (and holds the throttle open) and idles it around 2000 on mine.

Yes, check the throttle cable. Maybe yer transmission is fuc*ed? I have a friend that had a thunder bird but his did the same thing. He needed a new transmission. Its either that, throttle cable, throttle flaps are stuck and wont close or leaks.

One thing I found in the service manual under Idle control was to check a couple of things when getting a f'd up idle is: brake switch signal, alternator fr signal, starter signal, etc.. And another thing is that my brake lights are not working, along with my daytime runners, and front side lights (beside the headlights) and the brake lights don't work when I press the brakes either... is that reason for the idle to be that f'd up???

What do you guys think about my brakelights not lighting up and not working when I press the brake, do you think this would affect my idle.. And what possible reasons would I have for no brakelights at all, and no side lights (beside the headlights)... Anyone..
