Idle at 3-4000rpm, WTF and no codes.. Please Help..
(B16a1 in a 1990 CRX Si)
Hey guys, my idle is at around 3-4000 rpm and does not go down at all, even when it's warmed up. I changed 3 IAC's, tried 3 ecu's, ran new wires for the IAC, from the ECU and a power supply, checked all vacumm lines and I still have the same problem... Can someone please give me some ideas... I have no idea where I'm gettin this high idle from..
Thanx,
Pete

just a guess but it could be related to the throttle body or the accelerator cable. try disconnecting it from the TB and see what happens. also, just because it doesnt throw any codes doesnt mean theres not a problem. you may want to check all the sensors for voltage and such.
Another thing is that when I unplug the IAC my idle goes down to 1000rpm and then jumps to 2000rpm and then back and forth, and then when I plug it back in it shoots back up to 3-4000rpm... anyone with any ideas???

well i finished installing my zc the other day, and i had an idle between 1500 and 1750, and i do not know what the problem was, then now its at 500 rpm, and almost stalls out when i turn the wheel so now i have to adjust the idle nut. Its kinda odd. I was living in a fantasy world, i was pretending my cam was a racing cam, you know idling all fast and all, so if you can't figure it out, just pretend.

i had my throttle cable too tight. it was doing the same thing. i drove me nutty cause i ahd all the vaccum lines right and everyhtring
I completely disconnected my fast idle valve, my idle fluctuated between 1000 and 1.5k then when i connected the throttle body (the big guy that says pgm-fi) to it it went to 1k then warmed up and idled to 500. which was a lil low since when i turned my steering wheel my car almost stalled. Then i connected this lil tube that was connected to this thing (god i wish i knew the name, its right above the throttle, connected to the firewall, on a 4th gen civic) to a T connector i installed on the FIV and everything went to the norm. idle at 750 and no more almost stalling. So take it for what its worth
