Default 1999 Civic DX questions

hey guys i have a 1999 civic dx 5 speed, and my gas pedal is really choppy, do u know if there is any way to fix that?

what do you mean by choppy?
and we need more info. type of motor? is it the stock d16y7? any mods?

well by choppy i mean that when i give gas its not smooth, it chops, and its pretty wierd, its not as smooth as i want it to be...

i dont have any mods atm, but im gonna get an intake, and later on who knows what else i might put on it but thats it for now

Try adjusting the throttle cable and cleaning the throttle body. If the problem is severe, you also may need to replace the throttle cable. I must admit that the throttle on both of my Civics is a bit sticky too. It may be a general problem.

clean your throttle body, and try lubing your throttle cable.

hey one question, out of topic sorry, my lights have been flickering when im idling sometimes, does this relate to the throttle cable being a lil loose?

Hmm, I found the TSB I was thinking of, and it says only applicable to 1996 models.

Sorry for pulling out an old thread but I have the same problem. The gas pedal is not smooth. It stuck a little when first step on it.
May I clean the throttle with brake parts cleaner?

I have the OEM throttle cable in the trunk. Just order it a few months ago from Honda, bc friend of mine said the 90° angle of the cable right after the fire wall tears the cable easily.

Remove and thoroughly clean the throttle body and then install the new throttle cable. You should notice an improvement.
