Default Can i keep my 99 civic obd2 with a d16z6 head

New to the site and was wondering if anyone has done this before. Putting a d16z6 head on a d16y7 that was swaped in a 98 civic ex. Have all the vtec componets. If anyone has done this before and knows 100% please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry i know you can put the head on. My question is can i keep the car obd2. Do i have to have the p28 and make the car obd1. Thanks

you can keep your car obd2, just take all the internals out of a y8 distributor and put them in a z6 distributor.. your timing will be a little off though, you should really just put the y8 head on the y7.. that way you won't have to worry about the timing or anything...

How bad will the timing be? Its not going to idle rough is it? You put the y7 cam gear one the z6 head also dont you?

It scares me when you say it will run OK. This thing isnt going to idle like **** is it. Dose the timing get advanced or retarded when this is done.

it would run better if you put the y8 head on it was all I was trying to say, because you wouldn't have to worry about the timing.. As long as you get it in time you won't have to worry about it, because it will run correctly. I'm not real sure if it's needing to be retarded or advanced.. the best way to check this is to put a timing light on it...
