anyone have any ideas on what cam i should pick up for the mini me ? i hear some stuff about GUDE cams? and zex so far.... anyone got any idea on the best cam ?

 

Dont get the Zex cam . My friend's friend got one in his y8 and it really sucked ***. So much so that he took it all apart and got a GSR motor .

 

weird....I've heard tons of good stuff about the zex.... maybe he didnt have it timed right? I'm pretty sure you have to alter the cam timing slightly when you install in a y8...

 

I have heard nothing but good things about the ZEX cam. What ECU was you buddy using? If you were to use it with a P28 or a zdyne one wire conversion it should kick ***. Importtuner tested it a while back on the d16z6 and it kicked some major ***. It was the only cam not to lose any power at any RPM and it made like 7-8 one the highend, but I think it made like 10-11 in the mid range too. The ZEX is the one that I would go with. There are so many ways to do a mini-me, its hard to say why it performed bad in that other car. Also if you are not already using a z6 or y8 intake manifold get one! I just up mine in and it feels TONS better. Especially over 4k.

The kid had it on a 98 EX not a mini-me. OBDI P28(SOHC) ECU and pretty much every bolt-on possible. It was a quick car til he got that cam, then it just ran like shhit and wasnt even keeping up with stock EX's. He probably F-ed something up and didnt want to admit it. He 's not the brightest person.

yah i hear good things about the ZEX cam and all. But has neone heard nething on the new Crower cam for the SOHC vtec's? They have 3 different profiles....mild, street/strip, and full race. Does ZEX have different profiles to choose from....I think they only have a street one and then the race cam...I would go with the Crower street/strip cam..its gotta be tiite..supposed to have a slight lope to your idle also...and its crower fer godsakes..hahaha..skunk2 is making a cam too...a skunk2 manifold is also being developed for the SOHC vtec as well.....

those are some cams to think about..oh yah...cant ferget Crane Cams....but i dont know if theyre good.

 

Holy ****...are you serious?? TONS better?? I'm running the 91 si manifold and my motor pulls hard as hell after 4000...is there more power out there??? Hmmm.....more info Noahk, please!
