i have a 99 prelude type sh and i just replace my shocks yesterday. the shocks that were on the car were the stock oem shocks and i went to the dealer to get new ones but it was going to be close to $700.00 dollars which i dont have right now. so instead i ordered a set of sachs shocks, and i used my stock springs. but now my car sits really really high, about 3-4 inches higher than what it used to sit. i took it on drive after i put the new shokcs in and it rides perfectly fine but why does my car sit so high in the air now? thanks for any help
You probably did something wrong somewhere in there...springs are what determines the ride height unless some other suspension parts were not installed correctly. 3-4" is a lot of difference.
Did you have lowering springs before you changed the shocks, because OEM ride height (springs) plus 3-4" lift is unbelievable :p

every part was put back on im 100% sure of that. no i did not have lowering springs before, the only thing i can think of is the very top locking nut on the shock maybe i did not tighten it all the way down, are you supposed to tighten that nut all the way till it is tight?

thats exactly what im thinking right now. i can not figure this out tomorrow i will take a picture of the car and post it up sorry i tried to go out and take some right now but its too dark. and belive you will be thinking i put a lift or something on my car. and the shocks are the right shocks i tripple checked that cause it was real hard to find some after market ones for the sh, so when i got them i made damn sure they were the right ones.
I dont know what's happening here...I don't know either to feel bad for you or laugh about the car highs.... good god 3-4 inches? Never heard of this one before... Don't Sachs makes BMW OEM shocks? if so they're crappy btw...they will fail on you within about 40-50k miles.

You put base shocks and sh springs and it will raise it an inch at least. The perches on the base shocks sit up higher. You need to put base springs on as well to get the proper ride height back.
By the way what tools did you use to compress the springs? Because it would have been hard to compress a sh spring enough to get it to fit on a base shock setup.
