Default Burning oil

I have a 99 GS with 30000 miles. I guess I been pretty hard on my car for the last 4000 miles or so and I burned a little less that a half qaurt of oil betwwen my oil chang interval. I wanted to know if you guys burn any oil between oil changes and if so how much. Also, what year is your car, how many miles on it, and what wieght oil do you use. Iam using 5w30 mobil 1.

i burn about a quart between changes, don't know why, maybe cause the heat, maybe rings, who knows. Anyways i use mobil 1 5w-30. half a quart is nothing man, don't sweat it, unless you are blowing blue-white smoke out of your exaust, or u are dripping the stuff where your car sits.

i burn about a quart (as reflected on the dip stick holes) every oil change (3K).. its done this for a long time and I've had no mechanical failures or anything..but then again my cars pretty old 95 gsr, 100K+... I use Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic oil and change it every 3K...

IT"S THE OIL for most of you. If you notice in the Type R oil forum, many R owners burn oil using mobil 1. It "mysteriously" disappers. A few had switch to regular conventional oil like Castrol GTX and stop burning oil. This includes me, but I own a gsr with 114k and don't burn a drop between oil change when using regular conventional oil.

Previously I did oil changes with Mobil 1 Tri-synthetic and Pennzoil synthetic and burn half a qt every 3k. Switch back to conventional and the oil burning problem was gone. May sounds ridicolus but Mobil 1 burns up quicky...

Slightly off the subject, but exactly how much oil (in quarts) do you guys put in per change? I've been putting in about 3-3.5 per change but the dipstick reads slightly high.

4.25 quarts (GSR).. i just pour in 4 quarts.. and check the dipstick after a while...then on the 5th bottle.. I pour down so the oil is about at the level (under the sloped part of the motor oil bottle)..if you know what the bottle looks like.. u should know what im talking about..

I have 39.5k miles on my GSR. I check the oil every two weeks and I never had to add any make up oil. My GTS however, is a different story.

I never burned/lost oil till just recently like within my last oil change noticed like 1/3 quart missing, although I just made the switch back to conventional oil this oil change dunno if that has anything to do with it... but normally my dipstick reads perfect and I even LEAK oil from my turbo oil return line.... but obviously its not enough to make a damn bit of difference......

i was told by my local honda mechanic that it wasnt good for the engine to change from synt to regular oil, especially after using synthetic for a prolonged time. i'm after getting my car back after having a full rebuild and i've now gone back to castrol GTX, i will never put mobil1 in again, i was going thru 4-5liters between services (4k), now i dont use a single drop

damn maybe I'll try a motor flush and switch to Castrol when my supply of Mobil 1 runs out... I bought like $250 worth of motor oil one time when Kmart had it for $3.50/quart.. and the Mobil 1 filters were $7.. thats all I had in the cart and people were looking at me like I was nuts.. I think I still have about 3 or 4 cases Lolz
