p1491 - insufficient EGR valve lift.
my car has recently given me a CEL code of p1491 - insufficient EGR valve lift. Now, i've been looking around this forum putting in various different methods for the above CEL code but none of them seem to come up for the 2000 (1998-2002) v6 accord, only the 4cyl. engines. i see that this is a fairly common problem on accords with mileage of 100k or greater, usually between 130k to 150k or so. mine currently has 154k coming up on 155k pretty soon.
is there a DIY on this somewhere that i may have missed? or perhaps an estimate of how much it would cost if i were to take it to a shop if i don't have the time to fix it myself? i've been reading quite abit about this and it seems that it's just carbon build-up that needs to be cleaned up off of the intake manifold and the valve itself. and in some cases even replacing the valve.
TIA on this
