CEL P1491 for EGR valve. What's your experience with the "fix"?
I usually visit the EG/EK Civic and FI forums for my own vehicle, but my wifes 96 Accord DX had her CEL go off for the EGR valve P1491. She's still under 150K (144,xxx), but I was wondering what exactly they do at the dealership. Have any of you had the CEL come back on after the problem being worked on?
The problem seems extremely easy to fix, but not why have Honda fix it for free? Just thought I'd ask another stupid EGR question. Thanks.

I thought Honda only fixed these emissions problems on V6s of the 5th generation.

You'll probably get a new EGR valve with that code, unless it also has a P0401 low flow. It could be the valve is just got enough soot in it to jamb it from opening.
Don't clear the code before going to the dealer, the freeze frame data will have the voltage reading of the lift sensor for the tech to see.

I would take it to the dealership... On those year model.. they have something call Emission maintains.. or SB 98-081... They can fit any emission related CEL up to 150,000 miles... but you're over the limit they can probably goodwill it and fix it for free.
