jrsc on Integra Type R
Itll perform better with tuning. Dont even worry about cams, the jrsc doesnt even come alive till you tune the hell out of it. Rboosted nows a lot about it, ask him.

less vlave overlap allows more pressure in the cylinder. GSR cams have less duration, hence, they will be better than ITR cams when tuned with cam gears. no question about it. what we really need, is a dedicated supercharger ground set of cams, then we REALLY would be seeing power!!
yeah I tried this. Here's a copy from the dyno test. Before and after.
Note: No tuning was done before or after. I baselined the car after the GSR intake cam was in and made some very slight air/fuel changes to get a good reading. I then saw that the power seemed down a lot. So I put the type R cam back in and adjusted the air/fuel to where it was before and I saw a huge gain which proved the type R intake cam worked better then the GSR intake cam on my car.
Any real dyno tuner will tell you that no matter how much you tune the car, you will not gain power or make any real power over the type R run. The GSR cam was just worse. Adjusting the cam gears, etc... will only gain in certain areas. Even if you go crazy in tuning, I highly feel that I would only beable to gain back what I lost from the GSR cam and not make any more power. The only thing I did notice was that the car held the boost longer due to the overlap differences.
Here's the plot though:
RED: is with stock '98 type R cams.
BLUE: is with a '98 GSR intake cam and with a '98 type R exhaust cam
Overview, this mod sucks. I later had to remove that POS GSR cam and go back to type R cams. Another test proving that you should not always hear/listen to rumors or theory over the internet. Only hard evidence is reason to consider a mod.
As for crower FI cams, still not good for JRSC's. Maybe later this year I will test some more random cams on my car for fun.
Oh yeah that test was done back in Jan of '01.

Rboosted, what psi are you running on your jackson and are you glad you went with the charger. I like to do alot of autocrossing and was debating over whether or not to get a charger instead of a turbo. thanks
I run 10psi now on a stock internal engine on 91 octaine. Here's a semi-current plot. Sorry I cut the side of the dyno plot off, I just used a plot showing the difference between 3rd and 4th gear from another post of mine. 4th gear is the red bumpy one. 3rd gear is the blue smooth one. Redline is 9000rpms.

I had the JRSC on my ITR before too. The thing was quick and all with the stock cams, but it was never tuned, so it wasn't all that impressive. I'm now running fully NA and am much happier with the performance it puts out.
