Default Z6 block limits

After searches and reading through lot sof threads, it seems that the D16Z6 block is capable of safely running about 180 whp as a daily driver. It also seems that a nice tune can yeild a 'safe' 240whp for a race down the strip, but it's hard on internals and not recommeneded as a daily driver.

How do you go about determining the strength of a build?
Did somebody just try out parts until failure? I doubt it... there's got to be some rule of thumb or a calculation to go by.

Say I want to fully build a Z6 and I add iron sleeves, pistons, rods... How do I know what the upper limit is to this engine? I know I can't just figure 1000000 whp and internals won't fall apart.

i guess everyone just figured out where stuff broke and stopped there.
with the aftermarket parts available and more importantly tuning methods, stock sleeves can be taken further safely.

you dont necessarilly need to sleeve the block. unless you are looking for bog power and reliability.

You can do 250whp reliably on a stock Z6 without much of a hassle I'd say. All comes down to the tune really.

As far as sleeving/pistons/rods, you won't be able to find the limits of the block assuming your tune is dead on. The head will stop flowing before you can kill most available aftermarket pistons. A bad tune however will kill just about anything.

Didn't evans tuning get 375whp on a stock z6 block...? LoL Obviously I wouldn't DD that... I DD my y8 at 200whp. But its snowy and clutch is slipping so it might see 5psi a few times a week... MAYBE.

i want to daily drive mine at 260-270 i need to get a bigger map sensor though. Its been about 2 years now right around 240 (last dyno was 239whp @ 10psi). I think the sleeves will hold up fine i think. DD at a high power level is kinda of like being at the track on high boost. When your daily driving your not a full throttle all the time, only when you drop the hammer, which you would when your at the track.
