What is a better suspension setup, Coilovers or just plain lowered springs/ struts. What are some good choices for EG civics?

I prefer just a good set of springs for a moderate drop such as neuspeed sports.

I can just talk by experience. I had skunk 2 coilovers on tokico illuminas, and it was a rough ride.

I plan on doing DD w/ my car with some fun activites on the side. So would Koni/GC be good or would something like eibach pro series be better?

A full-coilover kit (not slip-ons) will give you the best performance. So it depends on how you define "better". It depends what kind of sacrifice you are willing to make for performance. A lot of people are very happy with their Koni/GC setup. I personally am a fan of the Skunk2 Pro-S coilovers...

So what do you want exactly?

Do you want the car to corner like a fighter jet, or sits low that rides cumfy like stock, or somewhere in the middle?

I would like a happy medium, where the ride isnt too rough but also has some performance gains. This wasnt my thread to begin with was just asking within the post, sorry to thread jack! But I've read post after post about Koni/GC setups and how people love them, I was thinking about just getting the OTS GC's and obviously the Koni Yellows. Like I said though, this car is NOT going to be any sort of race car. Just a DD that I can have a little fun with every now and then.

i had koni yellows w/ gc's and loved it. used as a daily. for track days it would go lower and dampening was stiffened up a bit. i definately suggest koni yellows w/ gc's.

I have only ever had Tein SS. (Full kit)
I find them awesome because they are very versatile.

The ride height is adjustable and there are 16 diffrent dampening settings. (that can be changed on the fly) So if my wife and kid ar ein the car I can make it more cushy and when I'm alone going for a cruise I can stiffen it up easy peasy.

I don't know how cheap koni is as far as price but I paid close to 1k (cdn) for the Tein SS kit installed including new mounts.

I can get the Koni/GC for about $830, and I know they're adjustable too.(Correct if Im wrong) So it seems the Teins would be a little more exspensive, I could use that money towards sway bars fro eibach.(Front and Back)

I paid nearly 1k (in candian funds) given the exchanges rate in the summer of 2007 when I got them they might be the same price as the Koni set.

However, I know nothing about koni so for all I know they may be better or worse than the Tein's.

I see, I'm just trying to look at my options here before I choose one. Obviously I'm going to have these for awhile whichever ones I choose. Any other brands anyone would like to reference?

dood...i pmd u if ur interested with my H&R full coilover setup. they are good for DD.

here's when it was installed in my civic.

I have since sold the car and them coilovers are just collecting dust in the garage. they are pre assembled already ready to get mounted.

I DD that car with 4 people and the ride was pretty good. I have all the adjustable wrenches and stuff.

Coil overs are good, but tend to make for a stiff ride on the street. I always go with a good spring/strut combo. I usually use ST coils with Tokico struts, it makes for an amazing ride quality and handling.

IMO, the stiffest springs out there are from H&R, and Skunk II, but they are too harsh for me in a DD.

just $480 for the complete set. No leaks on the struts and the springs are not sagging in anyway.

they can tuck your tires pretty good all around. I did the fork trick and rolled the wheel well a little bit to avoid hitting the uca.

here's some more shot on my other red civic. take note that I raised it here coz the offset of the rims are high and it will rub.

I currently have a completely stock EK automatic that's it. I was waiting for a nice ferio to come by, but it's pretty hard to find.

I have a couple of DTM cars that gets my attention for now, therefore I can't use the H&R coilovers because they are for Honda so they hafta go.
