It's ALIVE!!!! H23vtec!!!!! MUAHAHAHA
ITS ALIVE!!!! h23a frankie... tonite my friends and i finished all the finishing touches on the our h23a VTEC (on a 92 4WS)... the owner of the car got in and fired it right up!! At first we tried the p13 ecu and it started fine but then we got a check engine light... so we switched it over to the stock p14 and there it was, no more check engine light... but now we have no vtec.... well at least till tomorrow.. haha.. but yeah.. it was exciting hearing it fire up right away.. cant wait till sunday when we see it perform at CMI.... so far it sounds good.. but havent taken it out for a drive until tomorrow!!! i just thought i would let u guys know about this project!!!
yea, whats the CEL you got? If you dont have vtec, i would imagine the 1st ecu threw the vtec code, prob 21 or 22 if i can remember correctly. The p14 (i think) is the nonvtec ecu so thats why the code dissapeared. Let us know how long this motor lasts.
Well.. with the p13 it was bogging a lot (main reason why we switched over to the p14) and the check engine light was on, im sure it was due to the vtec and the map sensor but we didnt bother to fix it yet...... with the p14 we also had a check engine light, which was the map sensor but we fixed it... but it was never boggin it, sounded great...
the car is a 92 silver prelude with complete body kit and 18" rims... maybe ill have pics soon...

Did you take any pics of the install? I am still looking for a head to start mine. Let us know how everything works out and if you have any pics, plz post them
your gonna run it at the track?? with a p14 ecu? is it chipped? if not, how are you gonna rev it up? the rev limiter is at 6800 on a p14, which is gonna cut you out of your powerband, also, the ecu will not having the correct timing curves, so you cant just use a vtec controller to operate vtec..just curious, good luck..be careful of the rods..later
i would give the motor time to break in before you go out racing it.
rod bearings on h23s are known to spin the hell off

Shoulda thrown in an F22 instead.
Yeah, we changed all the balance shafts and hopefully all other steps.. the car has been running for three days with no problems, except that we keep on getting ecu code 3, which is map sensor(p13 ecu).... we have checked all the wiring and everything works out fine... we have done the helms instructions twice and everything checks out ok... i guess we might have to get a h22a map sensor..
as for going to the track.. the car will not have the 18" rims all around.. just the two on the back and the stock 15s on the front.. or maybe 15s all around...
