run the wires for vtec to your ecu duder.
if you still have that cel clean your vtec selonoid. or try another one.
that chip could possible have vtec turned off to....

i did try a different vtec selenoid and nothing happened the car still the same so... i did check the ecu and the vtec is on also i got a vtec light and is comming on at 4000 rpm so i know that the ecu is sending the signal to the selenoid but then the check engine light come on with the code 22 and when the light is on vtec dont work.... you think that because i got a d16 head on a d15 buttom that could be the problem???

ok so i put a jdm d15b vtec in my car. i have a 95 civic ex. so i wired it all up everything is good idle is perfect drives smooth. vtec will not work at all!!! i have tried 3 different ecu, and those were tested in other cars, tried different dizzy, grounds are all there even extra ones, my car will only rev out to about 6900, i have a handcommand p28 all motor chipped. i tried different vtec solenoids. and yes i have let the car warm up and everything. wtf could it be?!?!?!?!!? im so lost with it. i have tried everything in the books for real! anyone have an idea? oh and there is no check engine light on at all at anytime!!!!!!! and yes the bulb is there. i have unplugged the solenoid and check engine will come on, plug it back in goes off, unplug pressure switch check engine comes on. plug it back in goes off. so the car is getting all the signals just not engaging in vtec. i also tested the solenoid and it clicks so its good, i cleaned the screen even though it was still clean. im lost i really am. pm me if you have any ideas!!! PLEASE!!!

From my HONDA knowledge a D16Y7 dont have VTEC. And neither does the DX model. So thats your main problem, unless you have no idea what you are talking about.

y7 is non vtec. y5 and y8 are vtec. there is many different problems that could cause vtec not to work. code 22 is oil pressure switch. vtec deff won't work until that is fixed and cel is off. You can always try resetting the ecu and see if it comes back on.

code 22 is a hard code, meaning it won't go away until the problem is fixed! your setting your vtec to engage too early...until you turn it back to engage when its suppose to it wont go away! i'd also replace the oil pressure switch!

its hard to hear it in SOHC motors sometimes. it doesnt kick like on B series. It just engages. You have to have a short ram and listen for it to actually hear it.

oh you can hear the pitch change if you listen for it (unless you have a short ram), but it doesnt kick like it does on B series. The pitch just changes, so depending on what hes listening for, he might be hearing it and not knowing.
