Default cel in upper rpms goes away when i restart car

I just got a 94 si. When i go over around 6k i throw a cel. The only problem is that it goes away when i restart the car. I definitly lose power up top once the code is thrown. How can i check for this code? Also any suggestions i am thinking it is part of the vtec solenoid just looking for a clearer answer.

have you ever checked the code? it's probably a random misfire as you say it's only happens in high rpm. get a stronger ignition coil if it's really a problem.

im willing to bet its gonna be code 22... if it is take off ur VTEC soleniod and clean the mesh screen its probably clogged up...happened to a GS-R i was working on with a couple of friends..."professional" mechanic over tightened everything and had metal shavings in the oil causing the screen to get clogged

Replace the distributor. Or at least the housing. Majestic honda sells them for around $100 US.
