Default CEL problem

when i try to check my cel code. it wont give me a code. it will just blink for a long time like...BLINK-----------BLINK---------BLINK--------BLINK. and it will go on FOREVER without giving me a code. anyone know whats the problem? i had code 17 yesturday. now it will just repeat the blink without giving me a code.

like i said again...4 long blinks would make it code 40

Do you mean it's just flashing constantly without a break? If it just keeps flashing than yes, there is something up. But I've never heard of the codes flashing improperly. Sounds weird.

But like our friend above said, 4 long flashes is code 40, son.

yes thats what i mean, its flashing constantly without a break, there for i cant get any codes from it

try unplugging the battery for a few minutes, and try again.

is the ecu properly grounded at the thermostat housing? make sure its tight, make sure all your grounds are good

thermostat housing?? dont know what that is but my ecu is plugged in normal. every ground is good.

thermostat housing is the part that your lower radiator hose goes to, the opposite side of the house coming from the radiator. theres a 10mm bolt that has yellow (i think) wires going to it. thats the ground that you need to make sure is tight.

yeah that things on pretty tight...i took it off and tight it again just to make sure..its still not giving me a code.

oh i forgot to mention...my ABS light is giving me a code, would that affect the check engine light to give me a code?

ooh is this the IAT http://home.comcast.net/~scottjusko/BLOX/evap.jpg? BTW, im running without an intake right now, would the CEL be reading that?

nvm i found the sensor and changed it. NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THANKS A LOT for the info
