Default exhaust question.

Car:96 civic cx hatchback, stock d16y7. future plans are greddy turbo kit or custom kit, looking for 175-200hp.

as for now i wanna run either 2.25, or 2.5 kteller piping kit with 22' long resonator, high flow cat, and no muffler. does any 1 have any experience with running a straight piping with no muffler? will it sound loud?

if i have to run a muffler it will be either a brand new obx twin loop that i got sitting around for years, or 05+ rsx-s or si oem muffler

Of course it will be loud it is straight pipe... I had straight pipe with a resonator on two cars now and it is really loud. With you living in the worst state in the country for owning a modded honda I would consider an apexi WS2 muffler...

It will be very loud! I had a straight pipe on one of my cars years ago and it was only on the car for a month or so till I put a cat back exhaust on the car.

Technically its not straight pipe if you are using a resonator or have a catalytic converter. I think the twin loops sound like garbage, I would seriously look into buying a WS2 muffler. Conversely if you still wanted the noise and wanted it to sound good consider putting a straight through muffler in place of the resonator. In reality they are like the same thing but the mufflers tend to have a little more packing, thus reducing sound slightly (2-4db) I had a magnaflow straight through on my old Tercel and have yet to hear a small displacement 4 cylinder sound that mean...

I have straight pipe on my civic. No resonator ans i have a bypass for when i have to take emissions so i can just put my cat back in and a flowmaster 40 series muffler on the back. I like the sound of it kind of a deep burley sound.

I have a random technologies cat, and an Apexi WS2 exhaust with the muffler replaced with straight pipe. It is very loud, resonates at high RPM, is very intrusive, but I wouldn't have it any other way... I still can't figure out what made my Tercel sounded so different. Perhaps it was the magnaflow muffler...
