Default Boost activated Exhaust dump

Remember ATP's Virtual Exhaust?

They don't make this anymore, but other than the sharp 90 degree turn I think It would work well right off the Downpipe. So I started to look into fabbing one up and I looks like others had the same idea. some people took the electric e-cutout from QTP and removed the electric motor and replaced it with an internal wastegate..

Another..

Now I don't want to do this for spool but for quietness. I was thinking of doing a 2.5 exhaust system, but have a 3" Dump off the downpipeso in vacuum or low boost. it doesn't draw attention, and for anything over 10psi it opens up for maximum power. my only concern is tuning. how much more difficult would this be to tune with such a change. in the exhaust system?

the only thing that would hinder your tuning would be the consistancy of the internal wastegate. i think if it were consistant enough it would be easy to tune around.

i think you would have been better off using a boost activated switch and leaving the e-cutout alone. then again, your WG design probably operates more quickly than the electric motor setup.

Good idea, but it just seems like it will take longer to spool, and I thought the point of a cut-out is to decrease spool only when its time to party. How is is supposed to decrease spool time when the restriction only opens when positive pressure is achieved? Or do I have the concept wrong and it opens IMMEDIATELY when positive pressure occurs.

Actually those are'nt mine, just ones from the internet, just gathering data before i try this. the thing with the Electric motor is they never seem to last long, dont get me wrong some people have them for awhile, but more people seem to complain that they die too quick, and sometimes the cutout is open when the motor let goes. reliability is really not an issue with internal WG
