Alright i have a 95 ls b18b1(stock everything). i changed the timing belt yesterday. when i went to start it, it just wanted to stall. we changed the plugs and twisted the distibutor. its a little better. b4 it used to idle at 2k when it was cold and 1st started and now is 1700 or so. and when it is warmed up it idles at 400 when it was 800-1k. all the timing marks are on. also when i'm driving it takes a while for it to go. 1st and 2nd are okay but once i'm in 3rd 4th or 5th it has no go. no torque nothing. and i have my foot threw the floor. any tips??
sounds like the timing belt is a tooth off. go back and check ALL timing marks. wont be the distributor because the car was running fine before. make sure to check everything and make sure all marks are right on.
this is the correct answer. the dizzy is not touched when you do a belt change. there is an exact process you need to follow when you do one of these. patrick just wrote it up a few days ago. double check those marks ! chances are you are off 1 tooth somewhere
I have a '95 Honda Civic LX and I think has the same problem. A few days ago I had some guys replace a front crankshaft seal (oil leak), which they did, but I noticed later that the idle was slower/variable and occasionally there was sputtering when accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gears. The problem seems to be getting a little worse. Looking over a bunch of other comments online I'm guessing this is a timing error. I'm probably going to take it apart myself this time and line it up properly. Would love to hear the final word on what the problem was with the Civic originally in the post. Thanks.

hey so i finished and it runs amazing besides a few small problems.. i was setting the cranksprocket to around 11 o'clock at an arrow. well i looked at some instructions from one of my dad's shops and the pic showed the mark at around the 1 o'clock but there was no mark. also in the pic the key mark on the sprocket was on the opposite side of the arrow which threw us off. but got it done friday night at around 10 or so and got to drive to NC today and visit some family. so thank you everyone on helping me solve this
