95 H22a leakdown test leaks through exhaust and intake..?
I've got a 95 H22a civic
My engines history:
For about a year the idle got worse and worse..would stall after hard runs.
Then the engine would only idle good cold.Warm idle would bounce 100-1k
Then the car began stalling evey once in a while.
Then I took the cam pulleys off to stick the cover on. Created a problem..
Car still has nice cold idle. But now car stalls in neutral and if no throttle.
Then I checked compression..120-120-210-210~~all four should be 210.
Then I took the head off checked the head gasket..its good.
Then put the head back on and adjusted the valves to spec .
Then I have worse compression..120-90-170-135.
I did not do the valve adjustment correctly..obviously but timing is correct

SO I took the valve stem out ..DOH
Now with valves closed I throw 100 psi on each cylinder
Exhaust leaks a lot of air on all 4 ..and intake leaks a little on 2 cylinders
And I have a little pressure build up under the radiator cap
So I have bad valve seals correct?
but please explain the pressure in the radiator.

head gasket may be bad but I suspect bad valve seals.
I dono if you are saying the pressure in the rad is caused by a bad head gasket but thats possible.
how else might I have pressure in my radiator because of putting 100 psi in my cylinder?

No need to create another thread about the same problem you are having, just add the new information to this thread.

Ya so my next steps will be:
buy a spring compressor to take springs off.
check to see if valves are trashed and replace if they are.
replace valve seals.
replace head gasket.
do valve adjustment.
I should be running smoothly right?
If this does not work I'll head to the piston rings.

1 first thing to do pull the head and replace the headgasket. when the head is off you can check all the other things. If you are hearing air in the coolant the head gasket is leaking.
anybody know If I should use any special sealant while installing the head gasket..copper spray..hondabond..?
I bought autozone special ~
95 h22a viton fel-pro valve stem seals - 40 bucks
95 h22a fel-pro headgasket - 70 bucks but it says f22 f23 .. 2.2 2.3 2.4 ..
dono if the gasket is gonna work
autozone rental spring compressor - 25 dollar deposit
couldn't find any valve guides around here
And I still don't know if my valves are bad..

valve guides should be done by a mech shop. You really need to stop and get a manual before doing aymore work on your car you might want to ask a friend that has exp working on cars before you f things up more
Anyway I guess I won't be getting the guides
but
I took my valves out and anybody could have told me the valves were bad when I said I had leak down pressure coming out of the exhaust/intake.
So I have a new honda head gasket and stem seals but now I need valves.
Where can I get all 16 valves for 95 H22a vtec for a decent price. A new oem type valve is fine. nothing fancy. But don't really want reconditioned... thy guys
