Default a little play in the hub

I just recently bought 1991 honda civic EX knuckles to replace the stock dx brakes on my wagon. The guy I bought them from said all I needed to do was replace the wheel bearing on one side because the hub had a lot of play. I replaced the wheel bearing and I still have some play.

What could be the problem?

take an axle, tighten the axle nut to spec. then see if it has play.

if it still has play, the bearing is bad. or the hub is somehow too small. it should be obvious what the real problem is.

i only suggest new hubs with new bearings. not good to reuse old hubs in my experience.
