Default Toyota XRS - sleeper

Anyone here ever heard of, or driven a 2005-2006 Corolla XRS? It is basically a four door Corolla with a Camry 4 cyl motor in it. On paper it seems comparable to some versions of the Civic Si.

Actually it had a 1.8L Celica GTS motor, it was pushing a little less power as it was rated at 170 hp. High 15 second car on paper.

i believe the 02-06 has the celica motor. the 07-current is the camry motor i think. my friend had the matrix xrs with a very intense vvtl-i crossover. very fun sleeper car, and is surprisingly fast

I think the later models were like 180-190hp and ran low 15, high 14 stock, 8.4k redline.

If I am correct, it is the 2zz-ge, which uses what is essentially Toyota's VTEC =p.
Interesting fact: the Exige and Elise both use the 2zz-ge

They're good cars, but the problem is when you shift it drops you out of that good powermaking vvt-i section of the powerband, so you lose some time getting back to the sweet spot.

If that was different they'd be some really potent cars.

That and all the ricer celica ***** ruined the Celica/Matrix image.
