95 special edition or gsr?
how can you tell the difference between the two of them? I am looking 2 buy a 95 integra. the vin reads dc4. and i thought gsr's where dc2's. it has a b18c5 swap. so im not complaining. just wanted 2 know the difference between the 2 body styles. thanks
JH4DC4 . . . = '94-01 3dr B18B
JH4DC2 . . . = '94-01 3dr B18C
It was a Special Edition originally if it has a wing, aluminum wheels, painted mouldings, leather, and a 6800 RPM redline on the tach.

Your correct, all 2 door 3rd Generation Integra GSR's/ITR's Vins have DC2 in the VIN #. All other 2 door models (original motor is non-vtec b18b) read DC4 on their VIN's. There's no difference in body styling, some just have more factory options included as your Special Edition would. The only solid difference between a DC4, and a DC2 would be the engine they originally came with. In your case that doesn't matter because the motor was swapped.
The engine swap you stated the car had (b18c5) came out of a US model Integra Type R. If your vin reads DC4 this means the car your getting is a Special Edition.
The exception would be the 3rd Generation 4 door models. Their codes would have either DB7=4 Door RS/LS/GS/SE or DB8=4 Door GSR/ITR.

i understand that a special edition does not come with a b18c5. My question was how do I tell if the vehicle is actually a gsr or a se. because the owner claims its a gsr but i thought gsr's where dc2's on the vin. the b18c5 swap was somthing he did 2 the car himself. Read the question and understand what i'm asking before posting an ignorant comment.
thanks. thats how i understood it. because he told me its a gsr when its really not. i was just wondering. is there any reason i should not buy it? im not 2 familair with the special editions. any pros and cons compared 2 the gsr other than the motor?

Since you know the motor was swapped, check their work. See if everything was done right. The car should perform better than any stock GSR with that engine swap if everything was done right. Make sure everything works, the wiring is legit, and it runs like it should.

Make sure the VIN# in both locations match, along with the little VIN stickers all over the car.
From looking at an SE to a GS-R, it's not easy to tell the difference.
A SE has non-vtec engine, rear sway bar is 1mm smaller, front bar is 2mm smaller (depending on year), RPM tach goes to 8, no engine brace bar, and I believe a slightly higher stance due to the springs.
A SE with a swap should be cheaper than a GS-R with a swap.
Easy Example:
SE = $4,000, ITR engine $3,000, Sell non-vtec engine $1,000, = $6,000 car
GS-R = $6,000, ITR engine $3,000, Sell GS-R engine $2,000, = 7,000 car

i wouldn't buy a car from a guy whose clearly lying about the car. although this issue is minor (gsr vs. se body), there might be some issues with the car that the seller isn't telling you, and you might not find out about until after you buy the car.
