Default first time doing stainless tube

I had my first chance to weld some stainless tube today, it was on some handrails that were already installed at some mormon temple. This was done with a lincoln V205t and there were considerably large gaps to fill. The original welds had cracked, and who welded the railings first only welded half of he pipe. It was pretty interesting welding left handed, while doing overhead on the stairs. I only took a couple pics, but here they are.

The pic shows that there is a wall super close to the railing which made it pretty difficult at times to weld.

gas coverage looks good for overhead, considering argon is heavier than air!

Doesnt look to bad for the situation you were in. I just got back from welding a SS silencer on a natural gas pump station. I'll spare you the pics lol. Worst welds looking welds EVER. I had the welded it left handed, right handed, upside down etc... good times in the field.

How long have you been welding?

Seems like you were welding cold, but then again, you said you were welding over a crack? As in, it was pre welded?

crack is an understatement, when they originally notched the tube on the bottom post it wasn’t notched correctly. So when they went to put the tube on it wouldn’t sit flush with the post. Instead of fixing the mistake, they chose to just weld the sides where the notch met the rail and left the underside on both front and back un welded. It was like a 1/8in gap to fill. It's lame fixing other peoples hack job work, but it was still fun to do. And yea, that one weld is a little cold near the end.
