Default Another ticking question

New S2000 CR. 1300 miles. Hearing a ticking that sounds like a tappet. I hear it primarily when coming to a stop from highway speeds, at idle. When I open the hood it sounds like it is coming from the firewall area, not the valve covers. Doesn't happen all the time. Did not have this issue on my previous 2000 model S2K. Any ideas?

I took it to the dealer, I could not get it to tap dance on command. They of course had no idea what it could be.

^^ care to expand on that a little?

is it normal or a bad thing? - i don't even know what an evap solenoid is - my car ticks in the same way as described, and i've never managed to trace it..

just a guess but im pretty sure thats what he is explaining. its not valve train noise and on the ap1 its located on the right side of the IM. and it purges gas vapors into the intake to be burned and it clicks very fast, because its duty cycled and since its a solenoid its audible clicking and to the untrained ear it can be confused with valve train noise

What did the fix involve? Was there a TSB on it? I contacted my dealer on Sat. Clueless!

thanks for your help on that. 2 questions:
1. is it a problem?
2. what symptoms does it usually give out so i can make sure it is that? - i.e. does it when it's hot or cold, at certain revs etc. etc.?
any help appreciated..

Does not sound like a TCT issue to me. That would clearly come from the front of the engine and sounds very very bad. It's about twice the speed as valve tick. Check youtube for "s2000 tct" to hear more.

I would record the car making the sound, with a cell vid or something. And then take it to the dealer. It does sound like it could be a solenoid issue of some kind. But I am not familiar with this issue.
