Default ap2 timing

i have a quick question. my timing was off on my ap2 and i adjusted it but i think its still off because it kinda stumbles. anyway my question is the following: the arrow on the timing cover is supposed to line up with which line on the crank pulley. my pulley has 4 lines so i dont know which one to line it up with? any input will be appreciated.

Set the crankshaft sprocket so that the No.1 Piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC) . Align the key (A) on the sprocket and crankshaft with the pointer (B) on the engine block.

I am very confused about what you are doing... Your timing was off you say? Are you talking about base timing or ignition timing? How did you adjust the timing? Did you remove your timing chain? There are only two marks on the AP1 crank pulley and you are supposed to hit the red one on the right side with your timing light. Maybe I can give you some more help if you tell us what you did.

yeah i took off the timing chain because it was way off. so this is the closest i could get it. i put white out on the marks so they could be seen in the pic. also if my timing is set close enough why does my obd scanner say my timing is advanced 8 deg when im running live data?
is this normal or did i make a mistake? thanks

Are you getting any CEL'S? I have a PO140 Fuel trim malfunction and PO142 System running too rich. I checked mitchell on demand and it states to check camshaft timing. My simptoms: Under light acceleration (when It happens most) and cold weather the engine begins to bog out (cel comes on right away if I hold the accelerator), but if i shift right a way the bogging goes away and no cell light. I'm also thinking of checking the camshaft position sensor, but haven't had the time (Lazy if I may add).

My question to you is "Do you have any similar symptoms?"

no im not getting those symptoms. but what i do get is a cel for "crank position sensor" and it wont let me rev past 3k. when i clear the code and get lucky i wont get that cel anymore but i will then get a "misfire cyl 2" & "secondary air injection system incorrect flow detected". i swaped the ckp sensor with a friend but it doesnt seem to make a difference. can anyone help?

Are you making sure that cylinder number 1 is @ top dead center when the marks are lined up?

But on which stroke?

I guess if it were 180 out it wouldn't even run...

Try a timing light to see where it stands.
