I have bare metal showing from accident. Best sealant?
I was hit on the highway a couple months ago and I have some metal damage on my door. It's just a tiny pinch, but it was enough to go down to bare metal. Thankfully, it never rains here. But I would like to protect it anyway in the meantime while I figure out how I'm going to fix the actual problem. What kinds of sealants are out there? Is there something I can just brush on? The spot is very small, perhaps a centimeter in length at the very most. I can take a picture if that helps.
Clear nail polish.
It comes off easy enough later to actually fix the damage (nail polish remover), and will keep water out in the mean time, without showing.

Honestly, I only even thought of it because of a craigslist post. Something about the car for sale having bullet holes that the owner thought looked so cool he used clear nail polish to keep them from rusting. Supposedly, the holes were 3 years old, but the pics showed no signs of rust forming.
Sigh, I spend too much time on the internet...
