What is the best way to clean Combustion chambers? With head off block!!!
Damn this carbon crap won't come off!!! Pistons look like ***, combustion chamber looks like ***....valves need work (probably just replace).
Toothbrush and engine bright.
I am thinking wire brush and Simple Green but want to make sure the wire brush isn't going to screw anything up.

Valves may just need reground if they aren't burnt or bent. since the seats need reground its cheaper than new valves you may not need. as far as the head get a shop to hot tank it. if you are doing all that work anyway
get a good old can of carb cleaner and just spray it on and let it soak for a while then wipe it off, repeat as necessary.
If he is doing valve work nothing will get it cleaner than a hot tank. then all he has to sweat over are the pistons.

Gabe, soak the combustion chambers in some heavy-duty degreaser overnight. In the morning use hard toothbrush & scrub that gunk away. Look @ pics that I've sent you. Exhaust valves are a BITCH! Get a dull knife & start scrubbing it away. It took us about 1.5 hours just to clean the exhaust valves. Try NOT TO SCRATCH the valve' steam!
