Default Need help 2 pass inspection Gsr exhaust Question

Ok, i went to the State referee today. Didn't let me pass inspection with the lower part of the header that connects to the cat. He said my exhaust isn't stock. My 02 sensor should be on the cat and not at the end of my header. He was using this as reference...

oemlist

Here a picture reference... I have 2000 gsr.

As you can see 00-01 come stock with the o2 sensor at the end of the header, and not on the cat like the previous 94-99 year. Unless i can prove that 00-01 02 sensor is stock on the header and not on the cat, he won't let me test to sign off my ticket.

I try calling acura, they stay that #8 is the 2000 stock exhaust and the part number is correct.

Now i got no way to prove I am right... anyone please reference so i can show the ref that it is stock.

Agreed. Also consider filing a report against the tech who failed you for having the correct part.

My 00 GSR has the first O2 plug in the header, not the cat. However, the post cat O2 plug is in the cat.

yea, I am going to another ref, maybe this time this person will be more knowledgeable. Plus I was going in got a decibel exhaust test, he was talking to me about polluting and smog crap. Someone told me they just match up the vin on the car to the engine and they just do the decibel test, not suppose to be looking for smog related issue when my ticket didn't say anything about it.

Anything past the catalytic converter does not affect smog and/or pollution. Everything after the cat is only sound related..

Which ref station did you go to?

I went to the one at Golden West College to BAR my swap. They didn't give me any lectures, just did their things.

thanks a bunch, Went to Fullerton and they also gave me crap about why the o2 is not on the cat because the acuraoemparts has it #8 which show no o2 sensor on the header. I am ****ing tired of this stupid crap. Told them i just want to take my decibel test and they said they need to inspect from the header to the end of the exhaust tip. WTF... They say i need to go to acura to get their printout, but i doubt acura can help me... Like they give a **** about a 2000 gsr with no warranty on it.

Last option is find someone with 98-99 gsr and swap the whole header -> exhaust for that day. But i don't know anyone.

How many O2 sensors do you have on your car? Correct me if I'm wrong, but for your year, there's one before the cat and one on the cat, right?

OEM parts diagram can also have mistakes. Acura dealer will print the diagram for you. Just tell them you need to double check the diagram with the ref before buying the right part.

So you have the stock header/A-pipe that came on your 2000 GS-R, correct?

Wow, the website shows #8 for ALL 94-01 GS-R's (different part numbers, but still referencing the same piece on the diagram), #7 for LS's, and #9 for ITR's. That's weird.

I don't suppose there's a part number on that A-pipe piece anywhere that you could match up with what it shows for the #8 P.N. in that diagram, is there? 18210-ST7-A64?

94-95 GS-R's A-pipe is 18210-ST7-A63.

As for that Team Integra diagram, the LS used a different part number A-pipe than did 00-01 GS-R's, so that diagram isn't really accurate I don't think.

Why did you need to go to the Ref in the first place?

Tell the ref he's an idiot, slap his wife and punt his kid. The Integra's come with 2 o2 sensors, don't they? One on the Header and another in the CAT is what i thought.....

ANyways. I'm uploading a pic for you right now.

lol, oops, my pic proves he's right. LOL!

man, that sucks cause I'm quite sure my o2 sensor is on the pipe too....but then again i did think I had 2 of them.

I think the other guys are right. You should just go to another ref or talk to every and any Acura service tech you can find cause its quite easy to see that cast iron manifolds are stock. You can't even mate up a B18b or B18c5 stock mani to a b18c1 from what i hear anyways.

I'm still trying to figure out wtf this matters in the grand scheme of things. God i hate the REF, if it passes smog it should be left alone. If i can cram a boeing 747 jet engine in my hatch and pass smog, I should be able to use it.

haha thanks, I going to the ref for a decibel test. Went to 2 different ref. One in fullerton and one in goldenwest. Both said in order to do decibel test, they need to inspect the head to the end of the exhaust. So yup... im ****ed. I called acura rep already and they are trying to find the answer for that also. If only i can have the part number for the 00-01 gsr exhaust. They also said they never ran into any problem for gsr like mine, so they say it is my problem.

I forget which law, but you're covered because it is a stock part so it's not your problem. I recommend that you contact every acura dealer you can. If nothing else, you need to contact Acura corporate headquarters because they will be liable if it is indeed a stock header and you're getting REF issues over it. I would relay that info to them and tell them that you need help.

Worst comes to worst, I'd just have someone weld on an o2 bung and then plug the other one until after the test, then switch them right back. $40 if i remember that correctly for the welding.

He's a dumbass because you CAN'T put a LS header on a Gsr, they don't fit.

We've got lots of valleys and smog likes to get stuck in valley areas. That and Ohio the state houses less people than the greater bay area.
