anything and everything. The k series is a good engine to modify. The k20a3 in your buddy's ep3 (also in the base RSX's) is, unfortunately the weakest engine in the k lineup.
If you want to learn more about the k series in general, hit the FAQ links at k20a.org. I'm telling you, this is the best place for information on the k series.
Does he want to go F/I or keep it N/A?
Honestly, I would just try to find a better k series to swap into that thing.

oh hes not trying to make it really fast or anything, he just wants it to have a little more umph.i dont know anything about these cars, im a modular kinda guy.
if he just wants a little bit more, look into Jackson Racings Roots style superchargers. I'm not exactly sure about them on the k20a3, but they seem to work well (when the belt doesn't slip..lol) on stock k20a2/a/z1/z3 motors with low(er) boost.
Pretty much, you're looking at either supercharging, turbocharging, or swapping the motor, IMO. K Pro does wonders, too.
If you just go to clubrsx.com and look in the section called Bolt On Basics: RSX (base) you should be able to get a more educated opinion. I don't know much about the a3 motor.

It is called Hondata K-Pro. It is more or less like a chipped ecu for the OBD I...only a little different..He should be able to get an extra 20-30 hp out of it with a good tune. but it cost around $1000 just for K-pro..than another $300-400 for a good tune...if that is to much than have him look at i/h/e...there is a lot of good exhaust systems out there for the k-series...just have him research
