Default HELP >< 2000 Teg overheating.

Not sure this is in the right forum so apologies in advance. I have a 92si hatch with a 2000 LS swap. The car keeps overheating and I have no idea what to do. Let me list what I have tried. Any help is very much appreciated.

1. The relay and fuse are fine.
2. The coolant level is full.
3. The thermostat has been replaced.
4. I have jumpered the fan switch that is located in the thermostat housing and the fan works. Always on when the car is on and always off when it is off.
5. I have replaced the fan switch.

Sooo. At this point I am confused. As stated the fan works, fuse is fine, relay is fine, fan switch is new, coolant is topped, thermostat is new.

Does anyone have any ideas of what is left ?

The jumper trick does turn the fan on but I would like it to cycle as it is supposed too. I have not changed the gauge sending switch but I can not imagine this being the problem.

Is there Air in the system. Check the bottom hose, coolant might not be getting into the block?

start your car and take the rad cap off with a heavy towel while the car is running.
B18bc3po is probably right, you probably have to let the air out. Turn your heat on in the car with the fan blowing. as the air comes out of the rad, the fluid will drain into the rad. keep filling the rad as the fluid in the rad goes down. It will take some time. Wait till the theromostat opens and pour more in. take your time and this should work.

^let it heat up with the defroster on. cut the car off after it is heated up and top it off.

could be some bad stuff going on in the rad. try swapping it out for a nother. i had a overheating problem in my hatch with a b20 and it would over heat about a hour of solid driving and the resivor tank would over fill. changed the rad and it was fixed.

It heats up at the normal rate that it should but then continues until it overheats. I am not sure and will try the suggestions but I dont think air in the system is the problem. The upper and lower radiator hose are warm. I have tried it with the thermostat out and still no fan.

I was having overheating problems for the longest time in my DB and replaced everything over time and it would still OCCASIONALLY overheat on me. When I start building for turbo and put in my EG half core radiator, I havent overheated since.......

I apologize I re-read my original post and stated that the "fan works". What I meant by that is that I hard wired it to test the motor in the fan. When it is in the car hooked up properly it does not work however. Fan motor, relay, fuse and fan switch are all good. Could air in the system make the fan not turn on ? it seems like coolant would still be getting to the Fan switch in the thero. housing and turn it on when warmed up. Another thing I want to add is that with no thero. in at all the upper radiator hose gets substantially hotter than the lower. Thanks for the help guys. Any more suggestions ? I have been working on these for a while and I am really stumped.

When my buddy had his thermostat out it barley got to 1/4 hot, so i don't think thats your problem and the fan would come on too. My fan inst coming on but again my **** isn't overheating, maybe its just too cold here?
