DYI: DA Passenger Waterleak fix with pics
I saw a post requesting this in the FAQ and I had a friends car to do this on so I took pictures
If you have ever had that annoying waterleak that comes in around the blower motor on the passenger side floorboard and wondered how to fix it, heres how.
You will need
Eight grommets from Acura part # 91608-SJ6-003 cost around $20 total for all 8
Jewelers screwdriver
Needle nose pliers
14mm socket with ratchet
Number 1 size phillips screwdriver
Flat screw driver
New parts

What you will be removing

Use needle nose pliers to remove each of these (there are several of them, I think 8 in total

Press on sides with pliers and push up

Here is what it looks like removed

After removing all of the push in retainers remove the wipers, each requires a 14mm socket, after removing the nut wiggle the wiper in an motion toward you for it to pill out

Remove all 6 of these by pullng them out, it might require a flat head screw driver to get it started

Pull this part of the plastic molding out from where it meets the hood. Do this on both sides of the car (no tool required)

Zip tie temporarily (or tape) the plastic molding up and out of your way

You will now be removing this

Using number 1 phillips screwdriver removing each screw, be careful as they are 15 year old plastic screws (if one strips on you yank it out)

After removing all 8 screw remove the piece that the screw went in to. Simply get under it with a flat screw driver and it will come out easily

Remove plastic

This is the reason why your car leaks right here. Remove the old grommet as seen on right, new one is pictured on left

clean area where grommets go with damp cloth, dry surface when done

Install 8 new grommets

Push in screw retainers (be careful not to rip the new grommet when pushing these in.

Put in screws (some of them might not thread but you can tap them in with an extension and hammer if need be)

Install everything else in the reverse order and you are done

It works, and i did it on my car butttttttttttt. My wiper motor went bad and I could not remove the silicone so I had to pry open the area and work around it, the choice is yours as always. $3 tube of silicone vs $20 @ acura, not too bad getting the actual part from Acura and my Acura that never has anything in stock had this

i didn't use the silicone grommets from honda. i just used silicone in the holes. then around the black peice where the black foam seal is, i used more silicone. i think it'll be ok. it hasn't leaked yet, and we've had some hard rain since i've don it.
The red car was not my car, it was one i had the chance to do a how to on.

Hey my car 98 integra broke down wouldn't start twice for me after I seen my trunk had 2inch of water in there and under the back seat where the fuel pump wires are. They were a big ball of carroision. Put new connector in from junk yard and no problem since. But my drivers side tail light also has some water in it but I don't know how. Please help my trunk has nothing in it so I can try and find where it's coming in but still see nothing. Thanks.
