My guy has been doing the 1/4 mile in his talon tsi with his AC on. Wouldn't this affect his times greatly?

 

Nothing horrendous, but yes it makes a difference. More so on turbo cars than NA, too.

 

Wouldnt AC affect an all motor car more than a turbo due to the lower power output of an all motor (in general)????

 

Not sure, I'm basing this off of some dyno runs made with AC on with both a turbo and NA car. That could be the case and I may have overlooked the actual percentages of horsepower lost rather than the number of actual horses.

 

he should turn off his AC.

If not for himself, for the other races. The AC compressor will drip water onto the track. None of the other racers want that.

I seen Vinny Ten run a 9.8 In a costomers car in street tire class Supra with the AC blastin, damn it was hella hot

 

Turning off the A/C will reduce the drag on everything else.

You will notice about 3% power loss with the A/C on.

 

You are mistaken.

Any customer of Vinny's that runs 9.8 would be on the natianal "fastest Supra's list."

You are thinking of Vinny's personal car more than likely. And he doesn't turn the A/C function on,he vents air through to keep him cool, as do alot of drag racers.

 

I know atleast on the Mustangs that at full throttle the computer disengages the A/C clutch. Basically, once you floor it, the computer turns the AC off. I thought Hondas were the same way. If ths is th case it wouldn't matter if it was on cuz at full throttle it'll go off.

That being said, turn the damn AC off at the track. It drips water.

Any yes, most cars kick the AC off at WOT.

You lose 4 whp in an NA car with the AC on. I'm not sure about turbo cars, but, my only concern is that it works the motor much harder, and better chances of overheating.
