Default Turbo's in...but can't rev past 4grand!!!

Ok heres the deal, i just put in the greddy kit on my 98 civic hx. the problem im having is that when i rev, the motor won't rev past 4grand. its like a rev limiter, but all the way down at 4grand. My setup is: d16y5, greddy kit w/fmic/bov, 12:1 FMU, Walbro 255 intank, 280cc injectors, vafc, no cat.

i just change to fresh plugs and everything was fine, i was able to boost up to redline, but then after a few mins of driving, when i try to bring the revs up past 4g it will just bounce off like a rev limiter.

i also know that im running rich bc my egt gauge reads around 850 F at idle and the a/f meter is at full rich too. can running too rich cause this problem?

if anyone can help or needs this problem to be clearer please reply or email me kiddeng4@hotmail.com

thanks in advance!!!

I had the same problem. Lean it out at the higher RPMs. Its so rich that it puts out the spark. It feels like a rev limiter. I just leaned it out it was fine. I have 310's and a VAFC.

aiight cool, i'll give it a try in the morning.
also im running no cat on obd2, so would this be a cause of the problem or is it just too rich?
did you get your ride tuned on a dyno with the afc?

are you running a missing link or check valves? Try not boosting to see if you can pass 4k

Its your map sensor for sure.....either your check valves arent working or youe missing link is broke.

the code you are throwing is a too rich code. I had the same problem. I didn't use a dyno yet, I just kept leaning it out till it would go smoothly to 8000rpm. It will still run very rich, but it is a temporary solution until you get it on the dyno.

ok i leaned it out to about -30 at 4k...it worked for about 5 pulls and then aftdr that the problem came bakc again. i checked my CEL and i got a few codes, one of them being too rich/lean. the others are with my o2 sensor, vtec pressure valve, o2 heater and crank fluctuatoin sensor... so i guess i need to get new sensors and vtec valve? and lean it out some more?

also my missing link is working
