Default Seal on fuel return line...

Well i finally got my fuel tank lid fabricated to where i can run the lines properly, now that i have it in the damn viton o-ring on the top part tore in half... I was going to run a strat-o-seal on top but there was NO room for it, so i figured viton would do the trick. There is a stratoseal underneath however. Anyways here is how it turned out:

Then once i connected the 6an hose to it the ring tore...

I have a feeling i have to take everything apart again and install that o-ring since i tightened the bolt down too much, correct? How exactly does pressure affect the return line at all? Im just curious, i dont want to leak gas or have any fumes in my car so i know i gotta replace it, its just gonna be a pain in the ***. Plus, i had to retap the stock thread on the feed to a 12mmx1.5 and the fitting didnt screw all the way down so JUST to be safe i put jbweld around the fitting so it has no leaks at all. I really am kind of iffy about this set up, this is the only thing i have jigga rigged and i just wanted some feed back from you guys. Do you think its ok? Should i replace the o-ring?

There is basically no pressure in the return line. But you will want it air tight for sure.

go to the hardware store and look for a washer that will just fit over the o-ring......I know it's tight, but that elbow isn't going to hold the o-ring well. BTW, Napa sells fuel resistant o-rings real cheap

i have the -6an stratoseal grommet but the problem is i cant get it to fit because the metal round hub that has the threading for the feed line is in the way. If i cant get this sealed properly, i am going to have the threaded nut cut off and have a plate welded over then use different fittings. Basically im looking at a 8an-4an union, 8an straight swivel to connect to the 8an hose, and a 4an straight swivel to connect to the union under the lid of the tank then run the fuel hose from the swivel seal to my fuel pump... i hate to do it over again but id rather be safe then sorry.... But maybe i can get away with just replacing the oring... we'll see. thanks guys.

take a dremel and flatten the one side of the stratoseal that is hitting your feed line. It may melt the o-ring if it gets too hot though.
