This happens to me too. It seems like it has something to do with my power steering pump.

i was gonna say... sounds like the car needs a tune-up and the power steering pump is dragging down the engine enough to almost kill it. pop the hood with the engine running and inspect the pump (is it makin any noises?) i might even try removing the power steering belt, and check to see if the pulley spins nicely, or is there hesitation? or can it wobble?

most likely just needs a tune-up, though

In my situation, the pulley is 5K miles old, does not wobble, and tension adjusted correctly.

yeah, i didn't really suspect a ps pump problem. i'd say a set of ngk bkr6e's, some ngk blue plug wires, and maybe a new dizzy cap and rotor will fix your problem. on top of that, i'd say all air passages in your engine could use a nice cleaning (throttlebody, intake manifold, iacv, valves, and head ports and combustion chambers. and i don't mean running any kind of cleaner through it, i mean physically taking it apart and cleaning all the carbon buildup off. slap on new head, intake manifold, and throttlebody gaskets, and i'd say she'll run great. might even need a good chip tune (S300, crome, etc.). make sure your grounds are all good, too.
