93 Timing Belt-Water Pump Repairs
Alright guys,
I listened to your advice to have my 93 integra water pump and timing belt changed out. The water pump is original and the timing belt has 7-8 years and 101k miles on it.
While he had it up on the lift, he found a cracked spring and cracked cv boot.
The grand total?
$640 for all the repairs.
Good deal?

My repair guy who is changing out the water pump and timing belt called me into the shop and showed me my driver side spring in the strut tower, and it was cracked almost all the way through.
He also showed me the CV boot on the passenger side and that was cut most of the way around the bottom of it.
The TB and WP was $440, and he is charging me another $200 for the spring and cv boot.
I could do it myself, but he is within walking distance of my studio, so I don't miss any work while having repairs done.
My wife wants me to part ways with my 93 integra, but I want to drive her another 2-3 years.
She has 161k on it with original clutch and original engine, new exhaust, new tires, and new cv boots and tie rods.
With the way the economy is, I still figure this old girl can save me $$$ for not having a car payment.

Alright guys,
I just came from the repair place, and the timing belt was just starting to show some wear. He estimated I could have gone at least another year, maybe two on the old one. It was an OEM timing belt, and the honda name stamp on there was barely worn. The inner part of the belt felt slightly rough, but was in no way close to breaking.
The water pump would spin okay, but he said the seal inside of it was starting to dry, and would squeal a little when you turned it slowly.
He also put a new strut tower on for me for the broken spring, and put a new cv boot on the passenger side as well.
The grand total?
$560, $80 less than what he initially said. If you are in the cincy area, I would definitely recommend this guy. He's honest, does good work, and won't overcharge you with BS.
He did say that my other front shock/spring was getting weaker, and may need changing in the somewhat near future.
That seems like a pretty simple fix, so i may try it myself.
All in all, this car has been awesome in my 8 years of ownership, and I'll keep on rolling until she gives out on me, despite my wife's pleas to sell it.
