B16 alternator removal.. please help.
sorry .. but the search engine is down..i got the alternator free from the block.. but now it looks like I cant get it out of the "hole" it either hits the brake master cylinder.. the intake manifold or the oilfilter (if possible to take it out from the bottom.. ) do I need to take off the top alternator mount to get it out?
please help as the car is in pieces in the street right now..
thanks you,
_chris

I was able to get mine out by removing my oil filter in my B16 CRX, easiest thing to take out. Obviously you'll want to use something to catch the oil and you'll need to top it off about a half quart after you replace the filter. Just be careful not to damage the threads for the oil filter trying to work it out of there.
i really appreciate the help guys.. but there really isnt an easier way?! its in the street and I really dont want to pop the axle .. or pull the oil filter.. but in the end I guess i gotta' do what i gotta' do.. anyone else?
-thanks

Did you unbolt the actual alternator bracket from the block?
This allows you to drop the bracket, giving you more room to spin and twist it out of the "Hole"

I took the top one off.. but then it hits the fuel rail.. i tried to take the bottom one off.. but there is a third bolt 'underneath" the bracket that is unaccessable.. i tried to take the master cylinder off.. but there is only so much play and I dont want to **** with the brake lines.. I cant believe it is this hard...
how hard is it to 'move" the fuel rail? can you unbolt it and move it without disconnecting any lines or hoses ur messing with the injectors and all that?

I remove the alternator by doing the following steps.
lift car
unbolt alternator
remove alternator from bracket
unbolt alternator bracket
remove alternator from larger hole
replace with new alternator
bolt alternator bracket back
bolt alternator in place
tighten belt
lower car
So far has worked will all the civic/crx's I've owned.

seems like the easiest way. i have always done it this way too.
it also depends on what brand of swap mounts you used. some place the engine farther back than others and could cause some issues that others with different mounts do not have
