99 SI Headunit into a 96-98...?
i have one in my 98 dx....it slides right in the hole and fits pretty nicely with very little modification....as for the wiring u have to have the 99+ plug..cut ur plug and then match all wires with the 99 plug..they are all the same color..very easy..looks great...good luck..
So, i should get the harness probably from honda? How much does it usually run? And i take it that i first plug the new harness into the HU and then remove the plug from the 96 98 and match the wires into the 99 harness..? Thanks guys...let me know!
Well to answer that question there are a number of reasons.
1. ~ $80 for an SI headunit. vs. $199 + for any halfway decent HU.
2. STOCK headunit look...compared to "please rip up my dash just to get at this"
fancy HU.
3. Amber illumination to match the SI cluster and the amber climate controls...I
know this can be had on aftermarket headunits, but refer to reason # 2.
Although i'd like a nice sound system...i've just heard too many horror stories about big money systems all having to do with either deaf drivers, stolen property or Escalades on 22s.

do you have keyless entry on your car now?? if so you are gonna need to wire it so that that stock headunit still gets power and everything.. since keyless is part of the headunit 96-98 i install car stereos everyday and there is a harness you can get from circuit city to do this.. not that tough, just use your brain.. good luck

just goto circuit city and get a "reverse harness" for a 99 civic and a regular stereo harness for a 96-98. like $25 for both, just match the wires and you're set.
