Zc
is the zc considered a decent swap into a 91 civic and is it a driect bolt up as far as motor mounts and engine harness and ecu and axles....i currently have a D15B2 with a 4 speed if im not mistaken they r shorter than the axles out of a 5spd civic...only reason im considering a 140hp zc over a b16a is cause of money isseus...or if i should bare down and save for a b16...ne help or comments would be greatly appreciated
ZC is way cheaper, and same with buying D series parts over B series. DOHC ZC is only 130, but about the same torque as a B16, and only 30 less HP. It is a direct swap, but you need to be MPFI, not DPFI, and you will have to rewire your distributor wiring... There is a huge FAQ, that should answer all of your questions, stickied at the top of this forum.
PGM-FI stands for ProGraMmed Fuel Injection.
There are two variants Honda used on our era of cars.
DPFI is Dual Point
MPFI is Multi Point
- DPFI uses 2 injectors that spray into a chamber that feeds all 4 cylinder intake ports. It's similar to a carburator as one injector is used as the main source of fuel and the secondary/auxiliary injector comes on when extra fuel is needed.
- MPFI utilizes 4 injectors that feed each cylinder individually.
MPFI is on the left - note the 4 injectors.
DPFI is on the right - if your engine has that big black chamber then it's DPFI

You can still do the swap regardless if you are DPFI or MPFI.
DPFI requires that you do a little wiring and such (it's NOT difficult!) as pointed out by theidealone
The 4 speed tranny will bolt up, but I think you should go after a 5 speed Si tranny to make better use of the new engine. You won't have to buy axles - your stock axles should be fine.

well i appreciate all the input..im still a rookie and just tryna learn lol....and yea i think ill get a 5spd and because of bein a cable tranny ive had some input on changin the final drive gear to a 4:71 is that a good or bad idea
I wouldn't open the tranny as you state you are a 'rookie'. It's good to know your limits.
Maybe if you feel the urge to upgrade after you get this swap done, pick up a spare Si tranny and do a ZC 1~4 gear swap, LSD, along with a clutch and flywheel upgrade
