Hi guys. I just got home from looking at buying a 92 hatch. I asked the owner what was wrong with the car. She said it has been sitting here for about 6 or 7 years due to the previous owners wife putting a "LEAN" on it because she divorced her husband and had to give all the cars back to him so she went to the dmv and putt some lean on it so now it cannot be registered only for parts. Car has low millage for a 1992 only about 92,xxx k miles on it. So my question here is, Is there anyway to register this car. And what would i have to go trough to due it. The people are asking 500$$$ for it i can easily take it for 200$ is it worth the troubles etc etc
If this is in the wrong forum fell free to change it......
Thanks guys

first off its not lean its lien. and yes i can help you i have went through this many times. if the lien is with a title company you can probably get it back. however if the lien is with a bank then you are screwed and its a chunk of metal. if its with a title pawn place or something like that then just find out whos name the title was in before the lien was put on it. and send off for a lost title in that persons name. when it comes back just sign thier name on the title as the seller and yours as the buyer. and resend it in. and its yours. i dont know of the laws in your state or how hard they enforce them. yes that is illegal. but in my state they dont really look into it. i have done it many times. lucky for me my uncle is a repo. man so thats how i found that out.
hope that helps

I would not have bought that hatch if I were you. A few years back, I had the opportunity to buy a super clean '85 Toyota Corolla GTS for $150!!!! The bad thing about the deal was that the guy seemed to "misplace" the title. IMO, the guy either picked the car off the side of the road or he ganked it. It may have been a helluva deal but I didn't want to go to the DMV office and come find out the car is stolen. That's just too much headache to deal with.
