Default gsr vs type r head.

Whats up HT? Well my crx is currently swapped with the 99 b18c1 engine. All stock for the most part. When I swapped in the engine I noticed that my valve stem seals need replacing. Which is going to be getting done i hope this weekend. My brother-in-law has offered to give me the internals out of his c5 as he has upgraded. So my question is what does it take if at all anything to put the c5 head assembly into the c1? Any machine work needed? And what are the differences between the two assemblies?

Thanks in advance

Bolt it on, its that easy. I believe the dual springs are on the intake side.

Im not sure but the GSR may have a smaller combustion chamber resulting in higher compression. Not for sure though.

so the valves them self are the same size? and im assuming that the valve stem seals should then be the same part number as the GSR

ITR valves are a bit lighter because the stems are undercut. Otherthan that, they are the same as gsr valves. GSR and ITR outter springs are the same. GSR inner intake springs are the same as ITR inner exhaust springs. ITR inner intake springs are stiffer. Valve stem seals, cam seals, head gasket and exhaust manifold gaskets are the same. The intake manifold gaskets are different though.

GSR has squarish ports where the the ITR head had round. Also the ITR head was "polished" from the factory. There are differences in the heads. Also the GSR take an entirely different intake manifold as compared to the ITR

im not worried as to intake manifolds as im keeping the gsr head just putting the type r internals inside the head. im just wondering if everything is going to swap over with out any problems. to put it simple im keeping the gsr head casting but putting in Type R assembly
