Default back-up switch-reverse lights

none of my reverse lights are working...naturally i try to change the bulbs and it doenst take care of the problem...i am thinking that back switch is the problem(all other rear lights work fine)

my question is, isnt the backup switch located on the top of the transmission? i think it is, but if someone could verify, it would be great....

thanks
