I got a 94 si hatch, it idles at 2k. Here is the wierd thing, when i turn key, not start just turn key, it jumps up to 1.2k without the engine being on. Now I have done some searching, and I guess it could be the map sensor, but none of those threads have said they had a simular problem. For me its not too much of a problem, my mpg is still great, 40+ so i dont think its the engine actually running that high. I am just curious to what it could be.

 

check your alternator and gauge cluster you would know if the engine was running a 2 grand

 

First off:

Wrong forum (try civic)
M.A.P.* sensor has nothing to do with it.
Put a scanner on it and compare the tach readings with the scanner readings.

*Manifold Absolute (Atmospheric) Pressure
measures barometric pressure (and altitude). Has nothing to do with the tach function.
