h22a ek, vibration at idle?!
ok so i go to autozone and top off my oil (got it right between the dots) and i am on my way to wash my car. i get to a red light and an eg pulls up next to me obviously wanting to race, revving and all this crap. well i look around and no ones around coast is clear, so i go at green but i dont dump it at all, i put it in first then gunned it and i shifted sorta slowly all the way through 3rd gear, no crazy power shifts or clutch dumping just took it to 8k and shifted normally. well after the little race(oh and i did win by 4 lengths or so lol) i noticed that my car would vibrate as i revved the engine, its kinda bad between 750-1.5k goes away, comes back at about 3.5 then goes away. I am not noticing ANY power loss at all. so i pull over to a gas station to look at everything. then i realized that couldnt be an axle or suspension issue or anything of that nature, i had the car in neutral and was revving it up to about 3.k to feel the vibration more. the motor mounts are stiff, doesnt move at all. if you put your hand on the motor while revving you dont feel any vibration, but in the drivers seat you can feel a strong vibration all through the car. So My first guess was some kind of exhaust issue or something hitting the frame. any ideas? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long story. thanks guys. Innovative mounts (500hp rated, very stiff)
p.s. It doesnt not change due to how fast i am going, but how high the engine revs. It does this while NOT moving ,guys lols. Help lol

i have checked but not sure lol, i am going to jack up the car tomorrow to physically look at everything, im hoping its the exhaust hitting the chassis, and really hope it not anything with the balancer shafts.
in rare cases the balance shafts can give you a bad vibration but mostly not to noticeable. you should have done a visual inspection before getting on here anyway lol
ceck and make sure that your motor mounts havent cracked... i mean the actual part that is the metal mount that is welded to the chassis. having an h22 is a lot more torque then civic were ment to have in them.
all the mounts are intact and in very good condition, i just looked over everything i could see, and nothing is hitting the frame that would make that kind of vibration. i am almost positive now that it is an internal problem in the motor. its just that my mounts are so stiff that you cant tell from looking under the hood, but inside the car you can definitely feel it. any sure fire way to tell if my balance shafts went bad?
i got a similar problem with my eg6 ls v-tec . i'm running stock mount with full poly. bushing and my car vibrate under 1k rpm. if its sit at 1k rpm or higher then its normal. what could be wrong with that?
anyone know how bad it is to drive while its vibrating like this. its not like rattle my doors off but its just a stronger vibration than normal, but you only feel it if your in the car seats
my 97 ek with ls vtec vibrates at only a certain rpm and u only feel it if your sitting in the drivers seat, this is due to my my exhaust hittin the chassis.
i thought it was exhaust but i crank up the car and got under it and it isnt touching anything but the hangers. has anyone every heard of the balancer shafts like going bad or malfunctioning causing a vibration?
my civic does the same thing i have an h22a in my ek and what it is is the valve cover pan is touching the strut tower when i fist put my motor in i had about 2cm gap between them then got the mounts broke in and lokked and that was the problem so just check that
lol at the caps haha, but i thought of that too. i have enough clearance of my valve cover to the tower to stick a dollar bill in between and i can keep the dollar moving while i rev the engine to 5k , so thats not it. thanks though
