Default Starting Issue

Well i got the car started but what fixed the problem seems kind of odd to me. The car has been sitting outside under and cover with the battery connected for about a week without being started. Battery was at 12.05 V, fuel pump primed and i had pressure at the rail. I have the battery located in the trunk. I ohmed out all the power cables and ground cables, some were allittle high so i cleaned them up. I go to start the car again and it cranks and doesnt start. I have no CEL. I have a hondata s300 unit, so next thing i did was reload the map, I crank it and it starts right up. My question is why the hell did I have to reload the map when I never disconected the battery ?

maybe reloading the map was just a coincidence but it was really a bad main relay..

My question is, how did you clean the connections without disconnecting them????

" ohmed out all the power cables and ground cables, some were allittle high so i cleaned them up"

You do know that disconnecting a ground is the same as disconnecting the batt., right? 94

Yes i know that, I did that after the car would not start originally and after i had it disconnected it would not start. However to loose the map how long would you need to be disconnected ? I only had it apart for 20 mins max.

Most memories are lost almost instantly once power or ground is disconnected, unless it is stored on a ROM in the unit. 94

just spoke with hondata and they said that it should not loose the map by just disconnecting power.

Then it is held in ROM memory.
Could have been a voltage spike, what did they think caused the memory loss? 94

They said that they dont really have anyway to figure it out.....great tech support right. However i do have another issue with the car stalling while running if i disconnect the usb cable from the ecu. He said that could be a socketing issue and i would have to bring it to a dealer. However hondata themselves did the socketing about 6 months ago , if that.

Maybe both problems are related, what is the warranty on the "socketing"? 94
