I have an all motor rebuild of a d16a6. Only problem is it wont turn over. Turn the key and you hear the fuel pump turn on then and run then off like it should. fuel is getting to the fuel rail but it just cranks. resistor box is hooked up as it should be in the 90 crx si. timing is dead on and same with the distributor (the rotor faces the #1 spark plug wire when TDC). what could be the problem? I have power at injectors and msd (blaster coil and cap with rotor), also have spark but car still wont start. pulled plugs and they were soaked with fuel. replaced and car still wont start. ECU is throwing no codes...just one light when you turn key on and off...


BEGINNING BUILD: Engine was taken apart sent to machine shop for hone. got back put p29 high compression pistons in brand new rebuilt engine block. head was ported (both intake and exhaust) SOMEONE PLEASE HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE

 

what ecu/map are you using to try and start it?

 

pm6 virgin computer...just tryin to hear it run for a minute then go get the ecu tuned. but cant even get the car started. it backfired the day before yesterday (when we had wrong firing order) could i have detonated the engine since no ecu chip or tune?

 

with higher compression, you might be running really lean running the stock pm6. Do you have a wideband hooked up to monitor a/f ratios? if you don't. i would suggest taking it somewhere to get it on a ballpark basemap for that setup before trying to start it.

 

how would it be running rich if anything it would be lean...i'm thinkin it might have blown the head gasket when it backfired due to wrong firing order.

 

Lean, you are correct.. my mistake.

You can do a compression test to see if you blew the head gasket.
