Transmission: rebuild or buy used?
F23 Auto trans sucks, blah blah blah, I know just like you do. It's slipping pretty bad, so the question is should I have it rebuilt or try and source a nice used one? I can't afford a new one, and I'm not sure if I should trust a used one...but something HAS to be done, I'm bored with the car and so I obviously can't put any more power on the engine without doing something with the trans. I was hoping it would last me long enough to where I could garage it and do a manual swap, but there's no way I can do that in the next couple of years. Any advice? I'll appreciate whatever, even being flamed for buying the worst transmission ever made =P

buy a honda rema unit, there are way too many updates that have been made to that unit to go the rebuild route........
Any hints on where I can source one? We talking the $3,600 transmission? If it's one of those I'll just do an H22 swap, it's just not worth the money in my opinion.

Yea I'd go with the 5spd swap to be honest. My tranny was ok at around 100k miles, but could tell the auto was slipping. Got the swap kit from a guy on HT i believe for 400, tranny from a good salvage yard (86k miles on it i think?) for 400, installed it at my shop w/ about $200 bucks for extra **** I needed to get it finished and installed correctly. Lightweight flywheel and stage1 clutch another 300? I think, not too bad but well worth it. Best thing I've done on my CD5 so far :D
Edit: And to keep the car driveable during the swap, put the pedals/clutch master cylinder in one day took me about 4-6 hours total (use a piece of all-thread and a combination of normal and lock washers to get the upper clutch pedal bolt secure) And then do the actual tranny swap on another day. Allow an entire days work for both just so any problems can be taken care of. The swap itself isn't bad at all, just w/o the right parts can get tricky. Me and my boss at work basically had my tranny in/out within 4 hours but I didn't have all the right parts to get it driving.
